The first album President Barack Obama bought with his own money was Stevie Wonder’s Talking Book. Featuring songs like “Superstition” and “You Are the Sunshine of My Life,” the 1972 album, along with Music of My Mind, released earlier that same year, marked the start of Wonder’s “classic period.” Between 1972 and 1976, the artist released five albums and won 13 Grammys. A new podcast hosted by the two-time-Pulitzer-winning journalist and critic Wesley Morris explores this rich creative period and its legacy today. Joining Morris in conversation are Smokey Robinson, Dionne Warwick, Barack and Michelle Obama, and other notable peers and lifelong fans of the artist. In the final episode, Wonder himself sits down with Morris and Barack Obama for an unmissable conversation—and a heartwarming duet with the former president. —Paulina Prosnitz
