Works by Ludwig van Beethoven and Josef Suk

Jan 9–11, 2020
Herbert-von-Karajan-Straße 1, 10785 Berlin, Germany

If ever there was a musician without borders, it’s Daniel Barenboim. Wagner in Israel? A youth orchestra composed of Jews and Arabs? All his doing. In Berlin alone, Barenboim juggles the music directorship of the Staatsoper unter den Linden with the post of first-ever Honorary Conductor of the (unaffiliated) Berlin Philharmonic. On this occasion, Kirill Petrenko, music director of that august institution, paces Barenboim, former wunderkind of the keyboard, as soloist in Beethoven’s eloquent Piano Concerto No. 3. —M.G.

Also on the program: Symphony No. 2 in C minor, by Josef Suk.
