Women Breaking Boundaries

Sept 18, 2020 – Jan 10, 2021
953 Eden Park Dr, Cincinnati, OH 45202, United States

Through antiquity, women in the art world were mostly overlooked, hidden in the shadows of men. In the 20th century, female artists finally elbowed into the limelight. Focusing on identity through the lens of gender and race, the Cincinnati Museum of Art presents works from female artists spanning the 17th century to the modern day, and coming from Europe, North America, Africa, and Asia. The show—which includes painting, ceramics, prints, photography, and fashion—was temporarily closed due to the pandemic, and during that time works by Eleanor Antin, Zanele Muholi, Annu Palakunnathu Matthew, Kiki Smith, Julie Mehretu, Corita Kent, and Rei Kawakubo were added to the roster. —E.C.
