Set in 1640 England during the lead-up to war, Lulu Raczka’s new play, Women, Beware the Devil, sees a matriarch named Lady Elizabeth safeguarding her ancestral home with the help of Agnes, a young servant suspected of being a witch. Can Elizabeth handle Agnes’s own ambitions for the home, which grow increasingly clear? Raczka, who won The Sunday Times Playwriting Award in 2019, has teamed up with Almeida’s artistic director, Rupert Goold, for the play’s premiere. —Jensen Davis
