In response to the pandemic, many galleries have geared toward radical reinvention. Lawrence Van Hagen, the founder of LVH Art, an art advisory service, and curator of the global “What’s Up” exhibitions, has now launched “What’s up: Twenty Twenty.” Showcasing work by both emerging and renowned artists (Andy Warhol, Nicolas Party, Gerhard Richter), this online exhibition boasts five beautiful—digital—venues as settings for art. The first venue is an austere concrete garden, situated amid rolling hills. The others include a Venetian palazzo, a modern oasis perched among rocks in the midwest, a Mexican-style castillo, and a grand white room. The message seems to be that even in a virtual show, context is key. —E.C.
