Vision statement from the composer Christian Jost: “I am permanently on the search for the magic moment and can only achieve this through a complex and differentiated ratio between structure, form and tone.” In a recent experiment, he “recomposed” Schumann’s song cycle Dichterliebe, stitching the 16 separate miniatures into a continuous fresco. This time out, Jost’s inspiration is the Swiss filmmaker Xavier Koller’s shattering Journey of Hope, which in 1991 won the Oscar for Best Foreign Film.
