Vivian Suter: Bonzo's Dream

Sept 13, 2020 – Feb 14, 2021
Bussardsteig 9, 14195 Berlin, Germany

Vivian Suter paints in Panajachel, Guatemala, a small town on the fringes of a former coffee plantation. Often described as a solitary woman, Suter works outside, combining rainwater and earth with oil paints and acrylics. In “Bonzo’s Dream,” her free-hanging canvases share the walls with paintings from the museum’s collection of Brücke artists, a selection made by Suter’s mother, the collagist Elisabeth Wild, who died last February at age 98 (works by Wild are also in the show). The theme of the exhibition? The relationship between art and nature. —E.C.
