The Under the Radar Festival, in the 17 years since its debut, is now seen as an annual survey of the theater’s up-and-coming talent. Hosted by the Public Theater, with a special focus on experimental and innovative work, the event has launched many careers. Now, with the pandemic jeopardizing untold jobs in the arts, the Public is committed to finding alternative ways to keep the theater—both as a venue and an industry—alive. This year’s edition of the festival is entirely online, and features cutting-edge works by the new and not yet known, from the U.S. and beyond. —C.J.F.
