Tracey Emin is known for displaying intimate moments of her life with complete honesty, and she continues to do so in this series of small and intricate paintings, intense responses to months of lockdown. Preparing to leave the house she has resided in for the last 20 years, Emin comments that the small reclining figures, drawn in meandering blue lines, represent a “transference of emotions and place.” She paints home objects—chairs, beds, bathtubs—with affection, and the figure that uses them seems tranquil, at peace. —E.C.
