Time and Time Again

THE MUSEUM OF ART & PHOTOGRAPHY / BENGALURU / OPENS FEBRUARY 18

Bengaluru’s latest museum opening has been a long time coming. Designed by Mathew and Ghosh, the structure of 44,000 square feet was initially scheduled for a 2020 unveiling, but the pandemic delayed it until this year. It’s the city’s first public museum opening in a decade, and it houses a staggering 60,000 works from South Asia. The opening show, “Time and Time Again,” includes 1,000 photographs by the modernist Indian painter Jyoti Bhatt. “MAP is a people’s museum,” explains Abhishek Poddar the businessman and benefactor behind its construction. “You’re creating a need by starting a museum-going culture.” —Elena Clavarino
