The Gett, a dirty play about divinity, unfolds over seven scenes. “The entire play is an English expansion, translation, and adaptation of the opening verses of the Old Testament,” explains playwright Liba Vaynberg. She also stars as Ida, a Jewish woman who seeks to divorce her husband. Her religion is both a source of guilt and comfort in the already fraught process of getting a gett, which in Jewish religious law is a document that effectuates a divorce.
