The EY Exhibition: The Making of Rodin

May 18 – Nov 21, 2021
Bankside, London SE1 9TG, UK

Generally seen as the father of modern sculpture, Auguste Rodin depicted his sitters’ inner state as much as their outer form. Known for his seminal bronze and marble works, Rodin was especially talented at modeling, and had an acute ability to capture light and motion. He sculpted countless works in clay and plaster—experiments in figural groupings, preparation for finished masterpieces. This exhibition focuses on Rodin’s process, spotlighting the preliminary plasters that were so instrumental to his success. —Sabina Vitale
