Though the exact figure is unknown, over the last 40 years the Taiwanese collector Pierre Chen has accumulated hundreds of thousands of bottles of wine. In the 1970s, Chen started collecting wine from the French region of Bordeaux. As his knowledge expanded, he delved into different regions, such as the less fashionable Burgundy. He was particularly interested in the La Tâche vineyard, which specializes in Pinot Noir as well as white burgundies. Back then he bought the classics—champagne by Dom Pérignon and Krug, and the legendary Bordeaux Château Pétrus. Over five installments, 25,000 of Chen’s most prized bottles are up for auction; some are expected to bring over $100,000 dollars. Don’t miss two La Tâche methuselahs from 1985, valued at $120,000 and $190,000, respectively. —Elena Clavarino
