S.M.A.K. focuses on artwork after 1945. The museum, now turning 20, has concluded that “it is currently impossible to capture the social reality and the art world in one overarching linear storyline or concept.” To mark its 20th, S.M.A.K. presents The Collection (I), an exhibition divided into sub-presentations, seven of them. Key works include Panamarenko’s translucent zeppelin, The Aeromodeller; Joseph Beuys’s iron shelving with food, Wirtschaftswerte; and Daniel Buren’s candy-striped bedroom, Le Décor et son Double. —L.J.
