Amanda McCavour’s thread “drawings” are not drawings at all. McCavour stitches color onto a special fabric that dissolves in water, so that all that remains are the stitchings, which are then worked into her large and beautiful art installations. McCavour’s subject is usually botanical—flora inspired by her walks in rural Wisconsin and visits to botany departments. When she hangs these ethereal creations from the ceilings of galleries they swing gracefully. This exhibition shows McCavour’s suspended landscapes along with works of art that inspired them. —Elena Clavarino
