Slow Horses, Season Four

Gary Oldman in the fourth season of Slow Horses.

The premise of Slow Horses is too good to fail. A thriller about MI5 agents? Great. A thriller about subpar MI5 agents who’ve been relegated to the proverbial backup patrol yet continue to find themselves in the line of fire? Even better. Throw in a boozy, testy Gary Oldman as the head honcho, and you have yourself a hit. Which is what Slow Horses has been for three seasons running. This installment, the fourth, introduces a new enemy in the person of Hugo Weaving (who you may know as the terrifying Agent Smith in The Matrix), and sees Jack Lowden, Kristen Scott Thomas, and Saskia Reeves reprising their roles. The first episode wastes no time getting into the action—a terrorist detonates a bomb in London. How will Oldman and his rag-tag team respond? —Jack Sullivan
