Sharon Stone: Welcome To My Garden

Sharon Stone, It’s My Garden, Asshole, 2022.

Oct 12, 2023 – Feb 20, 2024
409 Greenwich Ave, Greenwich, CT 06830

The actress Sharon Stone suffered a stroke in 2001. It caused her to lose film roles, but it left her with a gift. “I started seeing color patterns on the wall,” she told CNN. During the pandemic, Stone began to paint. In Greenwich, Connecticut, she now has her East Coast debut, a showing of 19 very large paintings. “I created these works,” Stone says, “to let go of the noise, the judgments, and the pollution of our societal pulls.” And she isn’t afraid of touching difficult issues. One painting, titled It’s My Garden, Asshole, was inspired by a friend who suffered a miscarriage before giving birth in her 40s. Another, Jerusalem, was painted after a trip to the Western Wall. Stone hopes to highlight “not the turmoil, but the desire for peace and the desire for prayer.” —Clara Molot
