New York City’s mini Coachella may be the cheapest way to see your favorite pop artists. Every year, at the beginning of June, the city hosts its premier music festival, the Governors Ball. Or, as it is known to most New Yorkers, “Gov-Ball,” named after Governors Island. Back in 2011, the inaugural event—starring the Australian duo Empire Of The Sun—amassed the highest attendance of any event on Governors Island. Since then, the festival has grown so much that it now happens in Queens, at Corona Park, to alleviate heavy traffic. This year the three-day festival features major headliners such as Tyler the Creator, Olivia Rodrigo, and Hozier. The festival also caters to more indie groups such as the Backseat Lovers and Clairo. Although tickets prices have steadily increased as the event draws closer, each day is still $179. —Hannah Gross
