The word “diva” relates to “goddess” or “deity” or “divine one.” That’s why it’s so often applied to stars of stage and screen. They not only attract the spotlight, they radiate a unique form of energy. This exhibition—which originated at the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, with 250 objects drawn from its holdings—looks at divas of film, fashion, photography, design, and music. Highlights include Elton John’s powdered wig from his 50th birthday celebration; Janelle Monae’s pink vagina pants, designed by Duran Lantink; and a Warhol screenprint of Marilyn Monroe. For its engagement at the Denver Art Museum, the show’s exclusive U.S. venue, loans worn by Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Dolly Parton, and more have been added. —Elena Clavarino
