Forged in the clanging crucible of Barbados’ Carnival, tempered at London’s Guildhall School, Shabaka Hutchings’s reed sound glows red-hot in any setting—from the cataclysmic The Comet is Coming to this sinuous, intensely spiritual “Afro-Futurist” group in which Hutchings is flanked by South African musicians.
