The photographer Sally Mann has been doing exploratory work in black and white for decades, images in which a metaphor or mystery is restless within. Mann is a Southerner—a native of Lexington, Virginia—and this exhibition presents photographs focused on the South, and on her relationship with its past and present. —L.J.
