Run Away is about family. It’s about “what we will do to keep our family intact, what secrets we keep within our family, and what secrets we keep as a family,” says Harlan Coben, the author of the novel on which the eight-part Netflix series is based. “Every time you walk past a house, there’s a whole universe going on behind that door, and none of us have a clue what it is.” In this particular universe, the house belongs to Simon (James Nesbitt), whose white-picket-fence life collapses when his eldest daughter, Paige (Ellie de Lange), runs away. He later finds her living rough in a city park, a drug addict, yet what seems like a devastating end instead triggers a chain of shocking events that pull Simon into a dangerous underworld. The question at the heart of the series is laid out in its tagline: How far would you go to bring her back? —Elena Clavarino
