The room in the title is where a boy and his mother are held in long-term captivity. Sparked by the Josef Fritzl case, the acclaimed 2010 novel by Irish-Canadian author Emma Donoghue was adapted into an award-winning 2015 film, and now a play with music. It comes to the Grand Theatre in London, Ontario (where Donoghue lives), for its North American premiere, and then transfers to Toronto. —K.F.
