Richard Mosse: Broken Spectre

Oct 1, 2022 – Apr 23, 2023
180 St Kilda Rd, Melbourne VIC 3006, Australia

The award-winning Irish photographer Richard Mosse has traveled far and wide to document injustice. He’s worked in Iran, Iraq, Palestine, Haiti, and also the Democratic Republic of Congo, where he used infrared film to record horrific scenes of war. Over the last three years, Mosse has lived in the Brazilian Amazon, documenting both the beauty of the world’s largest rainforest and the devastating changes wrought by climate change. At the National Gallery of Victoria, Mosse’s video installation Broken Spectre is on view for the first time. It’s his most ambitious project to date. —Elena Clavarino
