In this exhibition, Raúl de Nieves’s life as an artist unfolds like a three-dimensional flip book. The viewer gets snapshots—in the form of wall-based works and De Nieves’s joyful beaded sculptures—that tell his story of transformation and renewal. While best known for drawing from his Mexican heritage and queer subculture, De Nieves sees this moment as the start of a new chapter in his artistic journey, which increasingly combines traditional elements from the Catholic canon with references to drag and ballroom culture. —Clara Molot
