The first name of Swiss video artist Pipilotti Rist is a riff on the impish Pippi Longstocking, brainchild of the Swedish author Astrid Lindgren. And yet Rist’s work, which is in the permanent collections of New York’s MoMA and the Guggenheim Museum, has never before been exhibited in Scandinavia. This large-scale show presents a history of Rist’s early experimentation in the television format to sweeping video and audio installations, created specifically for the exhibition. —J.V.
