The Korean artist Park Seo-Bo, the father of the “Dansaekhwa” movement, died in October of last year, at 91. Park absorbed Taoist and Buddhist philosophy into his artwork. “Even though my paintings may represent an idea about culture, the main focus is based on nature,” he said. “I want to reduce the idea and emotion in my work to express only that. I want to reduce and reduce—to create pure emptiness.” Park’s final body of work, “The Newspaper Ecritures,” created between 2022 and 2023, is the subject of this exhibition. To celebrate, Pharrell has created a Seo Bo-inspired capsule collection as part of Louis Vuitton’s Fall 2024 Men’s collection. The Korean master’s etchings will adorn jackets, shirts, and even shoes. —Elena Clavarino
