OVR: 2020

“While the art market still faces difficult times,” says Art Basel’s director, Marc Spiegler, “we feel it’s pivotal to continue exploring different ways of supporting our galleries and engaging with our audiences.” A frontrunner in terms of innovation, the company’s latest venture is an example of its dexterity. After canceling an in-person fall presentation, Art Basel announced that in September it will be launching the first of two series, dubbed OVR: 2020. OVR stands for “online viewing room” and this one features up to 100 exhibitors solely presenting works produced in 2020. —E.C.
