In 1993, artists who were untrained, unpedigreed, and “outside” the mainstream started a fair in New York City to show their work. Thirty years later, the Outsider Art Fair is not only an annual Manhattan event, it has expanded to Paris. This year approximately 65 artists, dealers, and curators are participating. Painter Fred Tomaseli will display a selection of works once shown by Psychedelic Solution, an underground Greenwich Village gallery that championed Outsider Artists in the 1980s and 1990s. Small galleries from around the world—Australia’s Cathy Condon Gallery, for instance, and Tokyo’s Yukiko Koide Presents—will exhibit new work from local artists. —Jensen Davis
