The second half of the 20th century was an era of large-scale geological change, the likes of which hadn’t been seen over thousands of years. Two decades later, we’re facing a full-blown crisis. How did we get here? This exhibition, which features 100 works by 34 artists, attempts to answer that question. It examine our relationship with nature; the devastating impact of pollution in Japan between the 1950s and the 1980s; the subsequent exploitation of the Earth’s resources; and, finally, the cutting-edge technologies we hope will help forge a future. It’s a powerful show. —Elena Clavarino
