The six-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald hasn’t done much in the movies, which is probably why she remains just one little-bitty Oscar shy of EGOT status. But you will search the globe for a finer, more individual interpreter of the American Songbook than McDonald, or one with a more lustrous soprano voice. The gala audience at Caramoor’s bucolic Venetian Theater has a treat in store, or rather treats galore. The diva’s backup band is the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, no less, with Andy Einhorn at the podium. —Matthew Gurewitsch
