Returning to MoMA PS1 this fall, Printed Matter’s NY Art Book Fair (NYABF) arrives at a particularly significant moment. It’s been two decades since the first NYABF set up in Chelsea, and 50 years since Printed Matter and MoMA PS1 opened their doors in 1976. Over four days, MoMA PS1 turns into a meeting place devoted to artists’ books, with hundreds of artists, publishers, zine collectives, antiquarian booksellers, and cultural institutions all under one roof. It’s the largest international gathering of its kind, drawing more than 310 exhibitors—collectives, small presses, self-publishing artists and rare book dealers—who bring books, prints, and ephemera. There’s also a full program of talks, workshops, and performances. It all kicks off on Thursday, September 24, with an opening night celebration from seven to ten P.M. —Clara Scholl
