“Behind the stage, and under the stage, above the stage, out in the wings, there are all of these different people and activities going on,” says the artist Lauren Redniss, “and it’s all of that together that creates the complete ecosystem of New York City Ballet.” For the eighth of NYCB’s annual, and frequently intriguing, Art Series installations, Redniss is creating what she calls “a 360 degree gallery of portraits. A visitor who enters the building will be confronted by all these faces and be overwhelmed by color and light and shimmering reflections.” More than 100 of the company’s unseen staff are part of this much-deserved moment in the spotlight. —L.J.
