The painter Naudline Pierre creates ethereal, sometimes frightening voids that combine spiritual iconography with fantasy narratives. Pierre, born in 1989 in Massachusetts, is the daughter of a Haitian minister. Heaven and hell are recurring themes in her art, realms she turns into striking landscapes of blazing ruby, amethyst, citrine. This is Pierre’s first solo exhibition in a museum. —E.C.
