Having proved himself with An American in Paris, his Broadway triumph of 2015, the director-choreographer Christopher Wheeldon is now bringing the moves to MJ—which stands for Michael Jackson. The musical’s script is by the two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage, and is structured around the preparation and rehearsals for Jackson’s 1992 Dangerous Tour. Clearly there will be flashbacks to childhood and the Jackson Five, as two young actors are sharing the role of Little Michael. The show features over 25 Jackson hits, and the man himself will be played by the unknown Myles Frost, who’s going out a youngster, but will hopefully come back a star. —L.J.
