In the early 1990s, before he became James Bond, Daniel Craig earned praise acting on the London stage. Between films, he’s trod the boards now and then. Craig’s official post-Bond Broadway return—his first time onstage since 2016—now comes in the role of Macbeth in Shakespeare’s tragedy. Cast as the ambitious and paranoid Lady Macbeth is Ruth Negga. (The production marks Negga’s Broadway debut, but not her debut in Shakespeare: she played Hamlet in a 2020 production at St. Ann’s Warehouse). The bloodbath is directed by Sam Gold, who earned a Tony in 2015 for Fun Home. —Jensen Davis
