In 2017, when Lucy DeVito, Tracee Ellis Ross, Carol Kane, Natasha Lyonne, and Rosie O’Donnell came together for a one-night-only performance of Love, Loss, and What I Wore, it was a you-had-to-be-there moment. All had performed the play with other casts, but together on that night it felt as if Delia Ephron and Nora Ephron’s play of monologues, based on Ilene Beckerman’s 1995 book, had been written with these actresses in mind.
