Van Gogh's Flowers

Art for “Van Gogh’s Flowers,” 2025.

New York Botanical Garden, 2900 Southern Blvd, The Bronx, NY 10458, USA

Vincent van Gogh’s most productive years—though some of his unhappiest—were in Arles, where he spent long afternoons in sunflower meadows and at night painted the starry sky and its reflection on the water in a wondrous cacophony of yellows, blues, and greens. “If you truly love nature,” he said, “you will find beauty everywhere.” To celebrate the arrival of spring, New York’s Botanical Gardens will be re-creating some of Van Gogh’s canvases in blooming flowers. Immersive, indeed. —Elena Clavarino
