Hauser & Wirth inaugurates a spectacular new gallery in Monaco with an exhibition of work by Louise Bourgeois, subtitled “Maladie de l’Amour” (Lovesick). Taking up her pervasive themes of anxiety and longing, the show includes a Maman spider sculpture from 1996, installed in the gallery’s garden, and two aluminum sculptures from 2004, suspended from the ceiling like silver cyclones. Or are they alien cocoons? The energy in them is palpable. Love, hate, positive, negative, Bourgeois’s irreducible subject: life force! —L.J.
