Panton St, London SW1Y 4DN, United Kingdom

The summer after Sam Steiner graduated from the University of Warwick, he worked in a fish-and-chips shop and wrote his first play. Titled Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons, its main characters are ambitious young lawyer, Bernadette, and her slacker boyfriend, Oliver, a musician. Their romance is interrupted by an election that passes a Quietude Bill, which limits the daily speech of each citizen to just 140 words. Protests erupt, along with questions: How do we spend our words? What subjects—or which people—do we save them for? First staged at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2015, the show now heads to the West End. Josie Rourke directs; Jenna Coleman and Aidan Turner star. —Jensen Davis
