Vaslav Nijinsky, Serge Lifar, Svetlana Zakharova, Irina Dvorovenko, Sergei Polunin—Ukrainian dancers have been lighting up the ballet stage for over a century. With Russia’s cruel and gratuitous attack on Ukraine still raging, it’s time to wrap oneself in blue and yellow for an evening with the Kyiv City Ballet, which travels the U.S. from September 16 to October 26. The 15-city tour spends two days in New York as part of New York City Center’s Fall for Dance festival, where it will perform the contemporary work Thoughts and the Ukrainian folk dance Men of Kyiv. —Laura Jacobs
