The next-best thing to seeing a movie on the big screen, goes the thinking of Kino Lorber, is watching it from the comfort of your own home—microwaved popcorn isn’t so bad!—while supporting your local theater. The independent film distributor announced a virtual theatrical exhibition initiative—Kino Marquee—which enables participating cinemas to stream movies virtually. First on the list is the Brazilian thriller Bacurau, a prize-winning, box-office sensation. Signed on to stream are New York’s Film at Lincoln Center and Brooklyn Academy of Music, the Santa Barbara International Film Festival Riviera Theatre, and Nashville’s Belcourt Theater. —J.V.
