Whether he’s photographing family members, fashion spreads, celebrities, or self-portraits, Juergen Teller treats all his subjects with characteristic grit and wit. In this huge exhibition, which includes over 1,000 works, one photograph seems to say it all. Teller captures himself posing model-like on a mattress on the ground, facing the camera in nothing but a pair of pink silk boxers and pink socks, and holding a crop of colorful balloons. Are his thoughts in one of them—perhaps the pink one that matches his shorts? When it comes to work by Teller, expect the unexpected. —Elena Clavarino
