Fifteen years on, Isaac Mizrahi and his well-chosen crew are still delighting audiences with the Prokofiev children’s classic Peter and the Wolf. The Works & Process original takes place in the space-age theater that Frank Lloyd Wright designed to complement his Guggenheim façade. Mizrahi is director and narrator, with regulars for such choreographers as Pam Tanowitz and Twyla Tharp as the dancerly cast. John Heginbotham’s sweet, low-key camp choreography complements costumes, accessorized by beaks and claws, in the fashion designer’s winning mix of street and outlandish. The Prokofiev score, which top-notch young musicians render onstage among the animals, attunes itself to each creature’s special wild nature, to the guaranteed amazement of the children in the house. This 30-minute musically visualized folktale repeats at regular intervals each show day, to accommodate nap times. —Apollinaire Scherr
