At the Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill, the art has ventured into the great outdoors. Making use of the museum’s 14 acres of grounds, the landscape artist Mary Margaret Jones has divided the gardens into three distinct spaces: an Entry Meadow to the north, a Terrace Meadow to the west, and a Great Meadow to the south. The Parrish’s inaugural sculpture exhibition includes the artists Jim Dine, Theaster Gates, Isa Genzken, Roy Lichtenstein, Giuseppe Penone, Jaume Plensa, Joel Shapiro, and Bernar Venet. Highlights are Plensa’s fabulous bronze portraits, originally carved in oak, and Gates’s Monument in Waiting. Its domineering stone plinths—one of which reads “Until real heroes bloom, this dusty plinth will wait”—are heavily quiet on a large granite plaza. —E.C.
