Fall for Dance Festival

Zui Gomez

Sept 21 – Oct 2, 2022
131 W 55th St, New York, NY 10019, USA

Ever since it was established in 2004, the Fall for Dance festival has been a signal autumn event in Manhattan. Presented by the New York City Center, it brings together cutting-edge, emerging, and established artists from all forms of dance, which means it’s a great sampler of the current scene. Now in its 19th iteration, Fall for Dance is offering five programs. Among the companies on the roster are the Bavarian State Ballet, Gibney Company, the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater (performing the fabulous BUSK), the San Francisco Ballet, Kyiv City Ballet (!), and the Dutch National Ballet. Sara Mearns and Robbie Fairchild perform The Two of Us, a new duet by Christopher Wheeldon, and James Gilmer dances the premiere of Morani/Mungu (Black Warrior/Black God) by Jamar Roberts. Check the schedule for other great offerings. Tickets are reasonably priced at $20. —Laura Jacobs
