The Italian-born artist Esther Stocker calls herself a “geometric fictionalist.” She creates immersive installations in which she combines painting and sculpture to create 3-D spaces. Her shapes are often simple or geometric—spindly squares; pathways in black, white, and gray. Some of her works hang on the walls, while others occupy the floor; some employ paint, others aluminum and tape. “My main interest lies in the description of Existence,” Stocker has explained, “and that is the Existence of opposite or paradoxical forms (forces) in one.” An evocative installation greets viewers on the ground floor; upstairs the exhibition continues with a series of Stocker’s paintings. —Elena Clavarino
