The Los Angeles artist Don Suggs had his first exhibition in 1976, at L.A. Louver. It was a two-artist show, the gallery’s very first exhibition, and Suggs became the first artist the gallery represented. Over his five-decade career, Suggs worked in mediums ranging from large photographs, paintings, and totemic sculptures made out of found objects. Suggs died in a car accident in 2019, at age 74. Toward the end of his life he created jarring paintings, in which he combined disparate colorful geometrical forms across varying backgrounds. This exhibition presents five of these paintings, accompanied by related prints. —E.C.
