It’s a family affair. Simon Rattle conducts Richard Strauss, and his wife, Magdalena Kožená, takes the plum title role of the “Rose-bearer,” an androgynous (male) teenager on the brink of husbandhood. Rattle and Kožená’s frequent collaborations have been known to take Kožená into repertoire for which her affinity is far from obvious, but even then, her chemistry with Rattle crackles, and fizzles are rare. —M.G.
