Brian Kirk’s latest film is set in the hostile environment of icy cold Fargo, Minnesota, where a recently widowed woman named Barb—the marvelous Dame Emma Thompson—has come to indulge in a pastime she shared with her late husband: ice fishing. Her sojourn is anything but tranquil. Lost in the blanketed landscape, she stumbles upon a remote cabin where a murderous couple (Judy Greer and Marc Menchaca) are holding a young woman (Laurel Marsden) hostage.
